Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at farmer's holding of Karikalampakkam village in Nettapakkam commune of Pondicherry district, U.T. of Puducherry during 2014 – 15 by using STCR approach. Based on inductive cum targeted yield approach, the field was divided into three equal strips viz., I, II, III. An exhaust crop of rice (var. Kulla Ponni) was grown to enable through interactions between the nutrients in soil and added fertilizers. After the harvest, each gradient strip was divided into 24 plots. Treatments consisted of 4 levels of N (0, 50, 100 and150 kg ha-1), 4 levels of P2O­5 (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg ha-1), 4 levels of K2O (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg ha-1), 3 levels of FYM (0, 6.25 and 12.5 t ha-1) and rice var. White Ponni was grown as test crop with (Fractional Factorial Randomized Block Design). At harvest, by using grain yield, N uptake initial soil available N status and fertilizer dose applied the basic data viz., nutrient requirement kg ha-1, soil and fertilizer nutrient efficiencies (%) were estimated for making fertilizer N recommendation.
